i feel you on the thermal paste worry. first time i did it, i was nervous too. for the OMEN 16, you'll want a non-conductive paste like Arctic MX-6 or Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut so you don't short anything. Arctic MX-6 thermal paste spreads nicely. also grab a thermal pad sheet for the VRAM if needed.

i've upgraded a few omen 16s. you need ddr5 sodimm, 4800mt/s or 5200mt/s, max 64gb total. your cpu supports it. crucial and kingston work best with hp boards. grab a crucial 32gb kit (2x16gb) ddr5 4800 - that exact one is plug and play. just make sure you get sodimm (laptop ram) not desktop dimm. ta
