Speaking of OS updates, Harborinno promised the following during Kickstarter campaign last March: What is your update policy? Security updates etc. Security updates will be done according to Google's requirements, and we will push OTA upgrades regularly. How many years of Android updates and securit

Good achievement, next question is how long do they plan to support HannsNote2 and it's successors? HannsNote2 is still running on 5.10 kernel from summer 2023 with no Android security updates since spring 2024. Looks like no support whatsoever, usual release and forget approach, kind of e-waste rec

Yeah. I think the Wi-Fi for the Hannsnote2 is the worst I've seen in the past 10 years, although it has a good screen like you say. The Hannspree Ambi tablet is another 10 inch which is meant to have upgraded specs, but who knows when it will be released.

There are color RLCD tablets like 7.8" Hannspree Lumo and 10" Hannsnote2. Both are darker then DC-1 and are more demanding to ambient light conditions (Lumo has frontlight though that one could use when ambient light conditions are not great), colors are not saturated as those devices have less stri

Eazeye Focus is around $400, but is delayed until June. Hannspree Hannsnote2 is under 200€ in Europe, but is stuck on Android 13 with no security updates and is somewhat underpowered with low capacity battery and old RK3566 SoC. Hannspree Lumo is under 400€ in Europe, but no one tested it for tempor

Nxtpaper is not RLCD these days (S8 was the only RLCD model in that line and it's no longer produced). Hannspree has 10" Hannsnote2 color RLCD tablet, but is also getting older and is stuck on Android 13 with no recent security patches. And Eazeye is about to launch 10.3" Focus grayscale RLCD tablet

To be fair, the Paper 7 price is wayyyyy better compared to Daylight DC-1 price. The Daylight DC-1 cost $729. The Paper 7 cost $369. Maybe if there is a 4th of July sale, prices of both can be lowered. Enjoy purchase links everyone: Paper 7: https://shop.harborinno.com/products/paper-7-8gb-256gb-col

Hannsnote2 has larger and higher resolution panel, but slower RK3566 SoC, small battery and Android 13 without recent security patches. If you plan to get it from Amazon, then Hannspree's German and UK stores might be a better option instead of US reseller that sells it for double price. Paper7 is o

I don't think there is a perfect device for your use case. I read academic papers on a rather old Fujitsu Quaderno A4. It has a plastic screen and therefore is light. Note taking is excellent and the PDFs display well. At night it is easy to use a lamp. I tried a Hannsnote2 but could not get it to w

The screen is brighter than used in Hannsnote2 tablet, I believe due to the brighter polarizer (not sure if it's the polarizer that's brighter). As for Harborinno company I have to agree, but it's quite common that a not well known company provides good products in RLCD market (Eazeye for example),
