Cute and colorful smallish everyday backpack
I don't really know your style, but some backpacks that I find cute are: Pinqponq Kute, Got bag flap pack or daypack 2.0, Fjällräven Kanken , Ela mo daypack or mini backpack These are all avaiable in Europe.

Looking for a perfect aesthetic EDC/personal item backpacks
A Canadian-brand option with some color pop is the Inuk Alba Tote Backpack. Top loading, luggage strap, back pocket, bottle holders, Air Canada size. I have a couple of Inuk bags and have found them to offer good design and good value. GOT bag has some nice color options, the Daypack 2.0 or Flap Pac

How strict is Lufthansa really about personal item size?
I don't know if I meet your taste, but I recently asked myself the same question and came across the DAYPACK 2.0 from Got Bag. The backpack more or less meets Lufthansa's exact requirements for personal items, looks quite good and offers enough storage space. Maybe it's something for you.
