Considering rucking

The last six months for me mirror yours very closely, I topped out at 285 in late January and needed to make some changes. Walked for the first 2.5 months, and hit the hour I could be away from home (we have a 10 month old and a 10 year old), also noticed that my average heart rate was dipping durin

Is there an actual competitor to Goruck?

I’ve got a few months with Goruck’s Rucker 4.0 and about a month with the Wild Gym Everyday Ruck (in black—I‘ve read mentions that the gray one is actually different/better material?). I haven’t tried any other ruck bags but these two. My experience: The Rucker 4.0 + feels like it‘s built better. fe

Picking a pack: weight on hips or between shoulder blades? Fit for long torso?

I disagree that rucks like Goruck are just a marketing gimmick. It really depends on what you intend to do rucking. If you plan to follow the fitness rucking guidelines of 30% bodyweight or less in the pack, they will work great, with or without a hip belt. The plates ride high between the shoulders

[Review] cTactical cT21 Tanker Backpack — A Solid GoRuck Alternative Under $100

It’s a great bag. I ended up getting a go ruck 4.0 as well recently on a crazy sale that was too good to pass up. Both bags feel equally premium. The thing i like more about the go ruck 4 is that the weight sits higher on my back (supposedly ideal) because of the way the interior pocket is construct

How can I prevent my backpack unzipping itself?

Buy a quality ruck with a waist belt especially if you are going to be exercising with it. For rucking plus working out I use a GORUCK Rucker 4.0. The belt is sold separately so is a plate that fits the holder. You can get a plate on Amazon for a lot cheaper but make sure it’s compatible.

Marginal weight increase problems

Have you also considered a ruck that has load lifters? Getting some of the weight off your shoulders and only focused on your chest and hips/legs might help. I’d been using a Rucker 4.0 to train for endurance rucks the past year out to 26 miles with a goal of finishing it in about 8 hour and I can b

Advice on weighted vests

Backpack is better for rucking/distance. Vest is good for calisthenics or people who need to train to move in vests (military, some law enforcement). I have a GoRuck Rucker 4.0 and a cheap Amazon plate carrier with 20 and 40 lb plate pairs. I find the vest really compresses my spine. Backpack helps
