A $2.40 keyboard
I have the redragon davarjas. It was my first mechanical keyboard. Ive had a few fairly nice and not nice (looking at you GMMK Pro) since but recently i took it to work again cause i needed a board and was frustrated with the membrane board they gave me. I remembered how pretty damn solid it was and

Help me choose between 2 Keychron boards
On the surface they're very similar boards with similar feature sets, and at similar price points. The main difference is the design and construction - the V6 is 'gasket mount', the switches are on a (very nice quality!) custom circuit board, which is mounted between foam gaskets in the plastic case

Terrible buildquality
I can't speak for the GMMK3, but I have a GMMK2 96% (mine) and a GMMK Pro (my husband's). Both of them have been excellent keyboards for the last 3 or 4 years. I have never had an issue with either of them. Their software, "Glorious Core" or whatever it's called, is terrible though. That's no matter

These cheap keycaps from Amazon are actually great!
$50? I wish. I bought my GMMK2 years ago when it was brand new. It was about $120. It's still a great keyboard, and it has served me well. I put lubed Glorious Fox switches in it. I built my husband a GMMK Pro around the same time and used the Gateron Blue switches. He likes the clicky switches. 🤮

Honestly? There will always be something better out there. And as long as there is something better, there will always be worse as well. If you’re happy with the deal you got, and you feel good enough about the overall performance of the keyboard, stick to it for a while and make your own conclusion

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - April 23, 2026
Hello! I'm building a 75% ANSI keyboard and I'm looking for an aluminum case. I already have the switches and the keycaps are ordered, so barebones boards to save a bit of cash would be nice. I'm looking for: - ~$100, +/-$30ish - full aluminum shell, black or dark gray - QMK compatible I don't reall

New keyboard advice
For that budget and wanting wood accents, the Keychron Q1 HE is a great starting point. It’s highly moddable, has the hall effect gaming features, and you can find wooden wrist rests or case kits from Etsy or vendors to add that look. The GMMK 2 is another solid pre-built TKL that’s easy to mod late

I’m losing the will to live trying to find a new keyboard…
I have a few 100% ISO boards. I'll list them first in order of purchase: Glorious GMMK 3 (Boardsmith so I could tweak the configuration) - FR4 Switch Plate, Keygeek Y2 Switches, and MT3 Susuwatari keycaps. Keychron Q6 Max - Standard Chilkey ND104 - Polycarbonate plate, Chosfox & HMX Dune Fox Switche

Buying new keyboard
those are solid starter choices honestly. the gmmk pro is a great first build board, and gateron milky pros are smooth after lubing. i'd maybe look at Akko Black and Pink keycaps instead of xda if you want more texture - xda can feel a bit flat for gaming. also grab some Krytox 205g0 lube for the sw
