They typically have just one hardware version, but the ones sold in Asia or the China market come with firmware that follows local policie so things like VPN support might be restrict

I use GL.iNET Slate 7 and Spitz AX, though the latter is what I usually use. There is usually a hit or miss with authentication, but the majority of hotels ive been using it at, ive had no issues at all. Just make sure the MAC address is static.
