Why all the hate for AMOLED?

The two major issues you'll hear about relate to battery life and visibility in sunlight. Many people see the compromises in these two as deal-breakers, and given that Garmin is switching a lot (if not all) of their watches to AMOLED or at least with AMOLED options, I think people are chirping about

As an epix pro 2 user am I missing out on anything specific to a Fenix?

The epix gen 2 is basically a renamed fenix 7 but in AMOLED. I have the fenix 7 pro sapphire solar mip, wife has the epix gen 2, and they are identical in every way except for screen technology and solar. The fenix 7 did not come in AMOLED, they released that version as the epix. For the fenix 8 lin

I can't stand dim screens anymore

I have an Epix gen 2 AMOLED and I never worry about the battery, although I went camping recently and used the flashlight a bunch and it quickly killed it.

Like I’m stupid, compare a 7 vs 8?

Fenix 7 has an older HR sensor, no LED flashlight except on 7X, and only has a MIP screen, the AMOLED model was called Epix Gen 2. Fenix 7 Pro / Epix Pro are basically the same as Fenix 8, with all the same sensors and internal hardware, and LED flashlight on every model, the main differences are: F

What is a light that you didn’t think you’d use often but ended up using quite a lot?

The light on my Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 (Smartwatch). I use it a lot because it's really no effort to double-press a button on my watch, instead of having to carry or locate one of my other flashlights.

Yet Another One

Here is my standard response, typed a while back, with a link to pics showing my point: When sizing a watch don’t turn the Watch toward your face to judge. This rotates the radius bone (thumb side) over the Ulna (pinky side), making the wrist more square and narrow. Instead, look in the mirror with

After some thinking, I went Tactical

This is the really good looking smart-watch, it really resembles a G-Shock. I got an Epix 2 Pro two years ago when moving from Apple Watch - I wanted to keep the 'bright AMOLED screen'. My next one will be either the Instinct 3 Tactical (or 4, 5, 6 as I intend to wear my Epix until it dies). Only do

Fenix 8 Amoled Hate

A lot of people who "hates" AMOLED display does not own a current gen display. I've had original Venu and that display was not the best but my current Epix Gen 2 works mighty fine on both batt life and display brightness/readability even after 3 years with over a thousand activities.

Best Garmin Watch for MTB

Yeah I am a fellow Epix Gen 2 user and very happy with it for MTB, hiking and pool swimming as my main activities. The AMOLED screen is particularly good for clarity I find. My friend has the enduro 2 and he rates it for MTB also.

AMOLED to MIP?

Both are really good. I prefer a sharp MIP screen, vs an Amoled. Then there is quite a difference between MIP models due to Sapphire vs Gorilla Glass, solar vs new solar vs non-solar, and MIP generation. The Enduro 3 has: sapphire, which has reflection new solar, which is better than old solar, but
