I have a $2k budget. I'd like something compact, fixed lens, and something that can shoot < 30MP. Additional details inside. What are my options, and what's your recommendation?
Yeah sounds like Fujifilm. Small APSC cameras, great quality, great colours, very big selection of small prime lenses that can give full frame-like results. Either an X100F/V/VI if you can find one, or like an XE3/4/5 or XM5 with one of their smaller primes. Even the XT30/30II/50 are much smaller th

Do you take a camera with you?
I'd say quality is a very relative term and depends on what phone you're comparing it to. A current flagship phone will have higher resolution than a dedicated camera from that time but the colors can be inconsistent, the dynamic range can be all over the place (no real shadows or highlights) and it

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! March 13, 2026
I've been looking at purchasing a Fujifilm camera recently and I've now came across the Sony ZV-E10 and I'm now completely torn. I was looking at the Fujifilm initially as I like the style and overall look of the Fuji pictures and I can see from the amount of praise they get they're a solid camera.

This was taken at Knockhill in Scotland Thanks for the feedback! I got some others where I had panned or frozen things, but I felt like I knew how to improve on those onesI'd definitely be interested to hear about some expensive gear to lust after that can help with freezing things! I was using a Fu

Xe4 vs x100v vs xt30
I love my XE3 and I think it’s still a great value. 24 megapixels is enough, I’ve printed 20x30 photos no problem. And I don’t like the lack of switches on the xe4, in particular they removed the focus mode switch, so you can’t switch between single shot/continuous/manual focus modes without menu di

What is a good option low budget camera for nature photography?
Any camera from the lat ~10 years will work just great. Wildlife specifically usually requires long lenses that can be quite expensive, so I recommend buying an older camera body, used, and spending more money on a better lens. A kit zoom is fine for most beginners, but again, not so much for wildli

Totally newby: help me find a landscape / nature compact pocket- ish camera?
"Landscape" is straightforward, most people would say any you just want a relatively wide lens on any camera body. "Pocketable" is where it gets hard, because small portable cameras mostly got replaced by phones. The Ricoh GRIII is probably the only truly pocketable option, but it's not cheap. Proba
