Small tests; Streamer vs Streamer (mini PC), DAC vs DAC....

I do, listening to a pair of Focal Trio 6s pair with an SVS Sb 1000 pro being fed with an RME ADI2 DAC as we speak. But it doesn't matter if I review it now because I've corrected it with DIRAC live and bass control using the Harman curve with a +6 db bass boost, I adjust the sub levels depending on

New Monitoring setup

Ascilabs just released the C8C. They are a small company so reviews are rare at this point in time, but most of them agree: insane speakers for 6k/pair. They compete with Dutch&Dutch 8C and Kii 3s which are more than twice as expensive. Worth checking out. My older favorite is the Focal Trio 6 ST6 w

Upgrading to a more serious pair of monitors

Good job on the studio! I think it's definitely treated well enough that it's time for a serious upgrade. I like the shortlist you have written down here, can't go wrong with any of them. In my search for upgrade candidates in a similar budget as yours (though I haven't bought them yet lmao) I ended

2 years of running a self-serve analog tape bounce service - mostly for 2-track prints. Curious about multitrack hybrid workflows and potentially including more niche tape deck options.

Just thinking about it makes me want to go back and see it all happen again. They have certainly earned my recommendation when it comes to bands asking about a great space to track at. In fact, 1979 is the reason I replaced my mains with Focal Trio 6’s. Being able to hear exactly what’s going on fro

Suggestions for new audio setup

Just got to test these kalis out this morning. Literally speechless at the quality. I wish they looked as cool as the Focal Trio6 but aesthetics aside. (Not even a huge fan of the shape65 style/look neither tbh...) Absolutely keeping these and will drop a update post at some point is my tldr!

Looking for Studio Monitors ~$2,000–$3,000 for Small Home Studio (Experimental Electronic / Ambient / Indie Pop / Contemporary Classical)

At the top end of your budget you might be able to get a used pair of Focal Trio 6 Be, which I'm saving up for as my endgame monitors.

FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited, Wedding Monster

I understand. I've never used a zoom for weddings. I know for practicality it makes a lot of sense. But, I just never got on with zooms. I own one 28-70 for Leica R that is a great lens, but I just never used it. I've always done two bodies with different focal length primes, usually a wide and a no

A few weeks ago I posted my studio setup in progress, and today the live room is officially done. I wanted to show it off before it becomes cluttered

Awesome! Those are Focal Trio 6's right? How do you like them? 😁

r/audiophile Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk Thread

Question about reducing noise for neighbor in apartment? Moving into an apartment, and I have this pair of these incredible focal trio 6 monitors. I absolutely love them for listening to music and also creating music. They are huge, fairly bass-y but not as much as a sub. I typically use them at a m

Kemper + monitoring speakers

Running a Kemper unpowered rack unit in my home studio. The main outputs from the kemper run into a couple inputs to my audio interface (UAD Apollo X6), which eventually spit out to my studio monitors (Focal Trio 6, Auratone mix cubes, Presonus 3.5). Outside of the initial investment into the Kemper
