Update on the Ultra

We returned it for those reasons. Can’t use Fi app without cell service, thus can’t find dog if no cell service. We tried it on a hike through light/moderate tree cover and it did not work. Other gps devices (a Fitbit with standalone gps and also iPhone using satellite messaging) did work in the loc

Is it just me, or are dog GPS subscriptions kind of ridiculous?

The reason they cost a subscription is because they use cellular to transmit the gps location to your phone. That costs money. There are only 2 on the market that are true LTE/GPS collars, the HALO4 collar, and the Fi series 3/3+. I have a fi series 3, and with an escape artist dog, its worth it, ot

Reluctantly considering coming back to the brand and picking up a series 3+ just for the battery life. Do current users think its worth it?

See my post on 3+ vs 3 battery lifehttps://www.reddit.com/r/FiDogCollar/s/W3jrCtZ04A Also, I think Bluetooth to phone or base is the most efficient.

Tracking collar recs?

I used to work in a parallel industry. (Software for vet clinics) about 5 years ago, including running the companies referral marketing program. At the time there were two main companies doing cellular connected collars. On paper, the “fi” dog collar was more impressive than the other one.

Why does my shiba look so fckn fat lol

I think it’s important to give them good food and plenty of walks. It is easy for them to get lazy (mine can be stubborn getting out of bed or off the couch). I’ve also had a Fi dog collar on mine for nearly his entire life and it counts his steps and tells me how long it’s been since he’s last gone

what gadget changed your life the most?

“Fi” dog collar. If not for the Fi collar I would have lost my dog when she escaped a broken gate while I was out. The collar alerted me she left the safe zone so I could head home. She managed to get about a mile away and someone picked her up and took her inside. The cellular modem & GPS in the co

My Vette was stolen

Hide a fully charged fi dog collar in your car when you overnight at a hotel. All you need is the metal piece. It works amazing. You do have to keep it charged though.

Reluctantly considering coming back to the brand and picking up a series 3+ just for the battery life. Do current users think its worth it?

Fi’s claim to fame is battery life and size. Everything else is marketing fluff. The accuracy of the 3+ is good enough and it’ll get you within 15-20 feet of where the collar is on lost dog mode. It doesn’t provide up to the second location data because that’ll run the battery dry. It’s the best for

Fi series 2 vs series 3?

I had a 2 for years for both my dogs, no problems, great battery life. Replaced it about 2 years ago for same reasons you cited. The 3 battery didn't last nearly as long. 2 weeks max. If just on GPS, 2 days. I boarded my dog and didn't use their Wi-Fi (forgot). End of 2nd day, it died. A recent coll
