Fi’s claim to fame is battery life and size. Everything else is marketing fluff. The accuracy of the 3+ is good enough and it’ll get you within 15-20 feet of where the collar is on lost dog mode. It doesn’t provide up to the second location data because that’ll run the battery dry. It’s the best for

Fi series 2 vs series 3?
I had a 2 for years for both my dogs, no problems, great battery life. Replaced it about 2 years ago for same reasons you cited. The 3 battery didn't last nearly as long. 2 weeks max.
