Opinions on elegoo abs like 3.0 vs 3.0 + for miniatures
likely doesn't matter. if your printer can print at 5nm or 2nm it's beyond the ability of the human eye to notice. so the only thing that matters is if the sculpt is designed well or not. that being said. if it means anything to you i have a mars 5 ultra, and use elegoo abs 3.0+ and my minis come ou

3d printer options
Agreed. If you can swing the P1S, get that instead of the A1, but Bambu is the way to go for people who want 3D printing as a means to an end for some other hobby rather than 3D printing being the hobby (both are great options, it just sounds like you're after the former rather than the later). 3D Printer
If you want high detail parts, you'll pretty much have to go resin. The resin itself is toxic and has carcinogenic fumes. You absolutely need good ventilation to run it. I run my resin printer in my basement in an enclosure and vent it out the well through the window. The important thing is that the

Resin print cost? (20 cm figure)
generally speaking the "cost" to do resin 3D printing is mostly all in up front costs. as an example. last summer I bought the elegoo mars 5 ultra resin printer. was on sale (memorial day? maybe 4th of july) for under $250. I also got a combo deal for their mercury wash/cure station. think that was

I need your help with choosing
Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra is awesome for figurines. The build volume is a bit small though but it's pretty budget friendly. Just make sure you have a ventilated area for printing and cleaning though. As for which resin to use, try a few different brands and types. Rigid stuff like ABS-like are not great f

Test print went horrible
I had similar issues when i first started using my Mars 5 Ultra. I had just come from a FDM printer and was annoyed that things didnt work off the bat. It didn't help that i picked the absolute worst and pickiest resin to print with (Siraya Tech True Blue Cast). I then swapped that out for some eleg

Beginner getting into 3D printing – is a used Formlabs Form 2 for $200 worth it?
Nah form 2 is too old at this point. Form 3 isn’t the worst idea but it’s very slow compared to what’s out there today. Still great quality but slow. I have both consumer printers like Bambu and elegoo, as well as prosumer such as Heygears reflex 2. Unless you are printing things that actually requi

Does anyone know why my prints are constantly semi failing?
I've had that more than once (Mars 5) and it always seems to happen to me when the resin temperature is out of whack. I've taken to submerging the (sealed) bottle of resin in a bucket of hot water for a couple of mins before pouring it into the vat and that does seem to improve the reliability of th

That's honestly impressive
Honestly having standardized resin profiles makes this shit way easier to program support/exposure settings around. If my Mars 5 Ultra could only take Elegoo resin, you can guarantee they would be able to dial the fuck out of the supports and exposure times to perfection.
