Daily FI discussion thread - Tuesday, April 28, 2026
I had Eero 6E for years (4 of them), and upgraded early this year to a Unifi Dream 7, with 4 access points for the rest of the home (4000 sqft). Our home is basically a ranch (with a large yard), so the extra APs help get coverage everywhere. While Eero was a massive upgrade from my prior system (an

Upgrading from eeros
No matter what new network gear you get lack of wired backhaul is going to be a problem. Have you considered Moca? It can send Ethernet over coax cable. Eero is super easy. UniFi gives you a lot of control but I am not sure if it will be better without wired backhaul. It may be worse. I went from wi

Unstable EERO pro 6E - considering upgrade options
I was thinking the same, being used to the EERO app, but Im just worried given everything is the same firmware wise that wired backhaul node may see wifi dropoffs as I had with the 6E pro. The amazon deal with trade ins and 10% cash back on the 7 pro makes it about the same price as the deco, so wan

Eufy killing my Wifi?
I only knew about the WiFi issues when I had a power surge that killed my modem and router. I had a Linksys router that worked excellently with the HB but when it died I tried TP link and Eero. My 2.4ghz was practically unuseable. I returned both and bought another Linksys brand, the Velop Pro 6e, p

Can't decide between EERO 7 or TP-Link Deco 7 Pro BE63 mesh wifi
I just switched from the Eero 6E pro that had a mix of wireless and wired backhaul and I was dealing with the wired node disconnecting randomly at times. I bought the be63 and eero pro 7 to try compare the two routers, esp with the discounts on the eero pro 7 with trade in, however I found the eero

Help swapping to 2gbs youfibre hub
I doubt it's worth the upgrade (as I did it). You're unlikely to notice any difference between 1000mbps and 2000mbps (other than in a speed test) Unless you need bandwidth for multiple users, or have very specific needs. The Eero Pro 6 is Tri band it has 2 x 5ghz so it can manage the low and hi freq

Not getting Full Speed
The two gig eero maxes the bandwidth at 1 gig ( It has a multigig WAN port and a 1 gig lan port ) Now do the eero Pro 7. I recently upgraded from 1g to 2g fiber. installed the eero pro 7 they gave me (The above "two gig eero" mention is presumably a reference to the hobbled-at-launch eero Pro 6e. No

Questions about the EEROs
If you are on a Metronet plan, not a tmobile plan, then you get 1 eero included with your service and any additional Eeros are $10/month, last I heard could be more a month it's been a while. T-Mobile plans are different and I only know that the founders plan got as many Eeros as needed to have whol

Thoughts on my home network plan?
Ah, I was hoping the ONT would be a little bit more than a glorified transceiver! It is a flexible aspect of the diagram, so makes no major difference tbh. Where it arose from was Zen internet's specs: 900 Mbps plan: Fritz!box 7530 AX router 4x gigabit ethernet, 1 as WAN ✅ 1.6 Gbps plan: eero Pro 6E

I attached an internet switch to my router and data module, but my outlets are still not providing internet
I’d also recommend getting a mini PC or something to replace that Eero as the Router and instead use it in Bridge mode. I just got an Eero Pro 6E and, I’m less than impressed with its routing capabilities, and will be doing this as soon as I can afford to. (It came free with my fiber connection)
