Best Speakers that are Apartment Friendly?
I would consider the edifier options, 1200 or 1700 series, they lack a little in the bass department but they are super high value for your money and they fit the budget.

Opinions on casual/beginner setup
Pass on cheap brands, that system is not worth spending $300 on, the speakers are cheap junk. If you need to go low cost bare minimum... Turntable https://outlet.audio-technica.com/turntables/at-lp70x-bz-cr Plus powered speakers, size to the room size: Small 4" Kanto YU $199 on sale from $349. Mid s

Newbie Setup
I'm so happy to see the cheapest Fluances. So many people get it wrong with the more upmarket ones, same with the U-Turn orbit. The more upmarket ones have carts that are more expensive, but not better, and are severely mismatched with the arm. This AT91 cart is absolutely fine, even though it's cheap

Upgrade for Pro Ject Primary E Phono
Pro-Ject Primary E Phono with OM5 to Edifier 1700. If you are looking for better sound then upgrade to better than basic entry level speakers first for the most improvement. Typically passive speakers and a stereo receiver or integrated amp. Or upgrade nothing and enjoy what you have. Then once you

Budget sound system for Garagegym
I found an Edifier R1700BT set cheap on Craigslist, a set of powered/active bookshelf speakers with Bluetooth is the best balance of quality to price for a home gym, IMO. As with all home gym items, keep an eye on Marketplace and you’ll find something to fit your needs for cheap before too long.

r/vinyl Weekly Questions Thread for the week of March 09, 2026
No, not a deal, those are both the basic bare minimum and you may end up wanting to upgrade from them soon. Ideally skip the bare minimum if you can and get a decent turntable and speakers that are worth buying. Three steps up AT-LP120X for $315 from the AT outlet has a $449 MSRP. Plus powered speak

New to Vinyl + Upgrading My Turntable
You will also need speakers for the turntable unless you already have a pair. Powered speakers with a subwoofer output: Small room 4" Kanto YU $199 on sale from $349 are a good value. Medium to large size room 6.5" Dayton M6 $299 on sale from $519 are a great value and add USB input for a computer.

Looking for suggestions for first turntable setup
The 4" Edifier R1700BT still has the amplification in the main speaker that powers both speakers. The upgrade over the R1280 is that the in the R1700 there is separate amplification for the tweeters and mid bass drivers! Also for around the same price as the R1700BTs the larger 5.25" Neumi BSP5 $219
