ThinkPad T480s running Linux Mint - Speaker Recommendations?
Just about everyone will work. It really depends on quality of sound you expect from loudspeakers (LS) and budget. You have to distinct two types: active and passive LS. Passive require external amplifier, while active have one integrated. I would suggest for quality of reproduction and build that y

first pc build and new desk setup!
Not op but that is an Edifier m60. Pretty happy with mine for its size and output (I’m just a casual user). But it can’t handle multiple aux input and Bluetooth input at the same time. If you don’t that feature it’s a pretty decent small desktop speaker

That is great setup
Those are good budget speakers, but if you have some extra cash to spend, I would highly recommend the Edifier M60. Best Desktop Speakers to buy in 2026? (Price to Performance)
You have a lot of options in that price range. You can go for something like the Edifier M60, it has both USB-C and bluetooth, pretty big sound for the size and 3.5mm inputs.

Extra pci e for sound card
Sound cards are pretty redundant here unless you’re doing some serious studio work that requires specialist input/output or software. If you’re worried about the slight hiss or buzz you get out of using the old 3.5m jack to run your speakers, just go pure digital. Something like the EDIFIER M60’s th
