How did the hobby evolve over the years?

-Competitor switches to what Cherry had made for years, narrowing the gap from stock to the broken in lubed cherry switch which had become gold standard -Plate material preference has changed a bit over time. There’s plenty of brass around but there’s many more options for more flexible materials an

My first build - y’all are tripping if you’re telling me there’s a difference between most of these.

There's like 10 layers to enthusiast keyboards that all change the sound, it's a lot of fine tuning. Most people will get by with a few different switches and a solid keyboard base, but doing so in a tester and not a built keyboard, you're not getting the full experience. I didn't even know they wer

Linus Torvalds goes back to a mechanical keyboard after making too many typos

I’m fixing up my coworkers drop ctrl and it has kailh box whites in it. While I personally have moved on from clicky switches I had to try it out before dismantling it for a cleaning. They were surprisingly nice but because of the board they were in I could feel it reverberate in my ear. Like I coul

Purple Nebula

This brings back memories of my Logitech G710+ and Drop CTRL daily driving days many, many moons ago. Lovely set.

Finally tried Kailh Box White V1

Traded my browns for box white v1’s. I helped my coworker with her keyboard because she was tired of the click noise. She’s using a drop ctrl and that thing is just stamped metal with switches pretty much. Using that thing with the box whites was ear piercing. Put them in my hi75 with pbt denim caps

Brand new

I hope you'll enjoy them once they arrive. From a technical stand point, wireless is inferior as there is data loss depending on distance and added delay. Get rid of delay and you will have compressed audio that is inferior to the resource. In my experience, 2 hours at best is not a problem at all w

Is this a good deal?

Dang, thats a really subjective one. Probably my all time favorite is the first build I did many years ago. Drop CTRL + kailh box whites. People either love or hate the box whites. Theyre clickly but super lightweight. 45g. Its awesome for fast typing. A lot of people arent fans of the click - its n

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - March 26, 2025

Hi! I have a DROP CTRL with Kaihua Box White (Clicky) switches. Everything is fine; I've used this keyboard for more than 5 years, but I would like to upgrade it a bit, and I'm thinking about changing clicky switches to linear ones. Question: Would it be possible to achieve a sound similar to the Ra
