I think SportDog makes the most reliable and easy to use basic collar if you want your dog remain within your line of sight. I would purchase one that has longer range than what you think you need bacause the range assumes there are no obstructions. My first was a Dogtra collar and it didn't last as

This weekend I determined that the Dogtra Pathfinder 2 is not for me. I'm sending it back... Just not as user friendly as I like. The additional features beyond what my SportDog collars provide aren't worth the hassle.

This is a lot of assumptions, I don’t know why you’re trying to pick a fight. Lazy people don’t have off-leash-trained dogs. I thought I mentioned it earlier but maybe not; I live in the suburbs, not a city. I’m not making my dog do off-leash down-stays in Times Square or whatever you’re envisioning
