My JBL 5.1 soundbar audio quality progressively worsens

I know it's all personal preference but I wouldn't count on JBL for longevity personally. I am sorry to hear that tho, def a bummer. It's the JBL Bar 500? Same model they have out now or an older version? Jw. Also, I have personal experience and have heard some others report bad connections between

Looking to buy parents a soundbar

Denon S517... or if you want super buck saving and just need more oomph go for the entry level Sony HS100F I think is the number. It's only 2 channel but it packs a surprisingly good punch. Those who have this, do you like it?

I had this, but I traded it in for a Denon DHT-S517. It’s basically the same bar, has all of the same features but has an HDMI in. I would recommend the Denon if you’re still in the market. But yes, while I had it I did really like it.

Samsung mid range options

Interested in what you end up going with. I too am in the market for a bar in that price range. Woot also has the Denon DHT-S517 for about $200 that I was eyeing. Reviews on that unit seem pretty good

Should I get a soundbar instead?

I recommend Denon soundbars. I have dht-s517 and I think it sounds better than same priced LG / Sony / Samsung. Works for music too. Very basic settings tho. I just have it at "music" all the time. Night mode works well if you need to be quiet sometimes.
