Help needed to decide which to choose - P14s Gen 6 (Intel) or P16s Gen4 (AMD)

Yeah, it’s not as reinforced as the older ThinkPads, but overall I still think it’s a solid choice. If you’re looking for a chassis that’s clearly more rigid than modern ThinkPads, you’d probably have to look at a MacBook Pro 14 or something like the Dell Precision 5490 / HP ZBook Firefly 14 with a

What are "Dell Laptops" "Dell Pro Laptops"? (as compared to Latitude, Inspiron, XPS)

We’re irritated that in the middle of our hardware refresh cycle, Dell up and changed the model lines. We moved over to the Precision 5490’s as our standard machine. Now we’re going to have to go to the Dell Pro Plus and they look significantly different than the Precisions.

Precision 5490 - Should I Buy?

I am in charge of workstation procurement for a company that uses Mastercam, which is very similar to Solidworks. We exclusively use Dell laptops. This build meets our recommended specs for most use cases. We recently put together a similar spec using the Dell Pro Max 16 Plus, which is the replaceme

Thinkpad P16 vs Dell Precision 7670

No, that was a solid laptop computer, but it's on the large side. I've since transitioned to a Dell Precision 5490 mobile workstation, which is much more compact and easy to move around with. It still packs 32GB of RAM, something like 22 cores for processing and has a discrete GPU so it can run CAD

Help needed to decide which to choose - P14s Gen 6 (Intel) or P16s Gen4 (AMD)

I’ve worked with both the MacBook Air M1 and the Dell Precision 5490. When I joined the company, they initially gave me the Dell. The machine is beautifully built. The touchpad is decent for the model, and it even had a touchscreen, although I honestly never found any real use for it. Due to limitat

Affordable Basic Laptop

Are you in the US? $200 is basically ebay money. Search up Dell Precision 5490, 5400, 5410, 5420, and 5430. Ideally you want to get 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD at minimum. This one, for example, looks pretty good: https://www.ebay.com/itm/236593763992 - you might want to cover that black blemish wit

Dell XPS 14/16 Not Being Sold in My Country. Suggestions for older models?

Other than the processor bump from Arrow Lake to Panther Lake, I'm not sure what's special about the new XPS vs. the Dell Premium 14/16. Why not just order one of those if you don't want to wait. The Dell Premium 14/16 are is basically just the old XPS 14/16 with an Arrow Lake processor and the Dell

Buying advice for an architect ($1000-1500)

thinkpad, p1 is great, there’s also p16 and p14s. they come equipped with workstation gpu (rtx 2000 ada vs 4060) if you want and those are designed for cad in mind vs gaming. look for i7/ultra 7, kind of a sweet spot in terms of thermals and performance but will still get hot. as much ram as you can

I bought the Precision 5490 last month. After a month of use, I am sure this is the best laptop I have ever owned. Specs Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 165H, vPro® Enterprise (16 cores, up to 5.0 GHz Turbo, 45 W) Windows 11 Pro, English, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Spanish (Dell Technologies recommends Wind
