I have a gen 4 Thinkpad T14 i5 and use a Latitude 7430 i5 from work and can attest the Thinkpad is not only more powerful (at least the version I have compared to the work one), but also better built.

You're probably right honestly. My company also uses very standard corporate Dell machines but I'm pretty sure they also dump 3-4 different security agents that audit all I/O 24/7 and it's likely the primary factor. It just has definitely gotten worse since the move to Windows 11; unsure if it adds

I was curious so I googled https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dell-Latitude-7430-14-FHD-Touchscreen-Laptop-Intel-Core-i7-1265U-3-6GHz-32GB-Ram-512GB-SSD-Windows-11-Professional-Good/18742667631?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=5812 I'd say no to Dell's deal. This one is far better specs wise. and cheaper.
