I'm a big fan of DeLonghi. If OP is not interested in a grinder, the DeLonghi Dedica Arte is a beaut. It takes up less benchtop real estate and is only $199 in most places.

De'Longhi Dedica Arte is worth a look if you want to stay under $300 and skip the sketchy off-brand machines. If you can stretch closer to $500, the Gaggia Classic Pro is the one people tend to keep for years and mod later.

Even with a De'Longhi Dedica Arte you can make decent coffee if you throw away the portafilter it comes with and use a naked one. You don't spend more than $300 for it, considering the equipment and a decent manual grinder
