Small, cheap OpenWRT travel router recommendations (to replace NEXX WT3020)

If you want it cheap get a Cudy TR3000.

Help me to decide which one is the best budget router

One of the cheapest routers right now is the EDUP RT2980 AX3000 which has a slightly newer revision of the same CPU with half the ram of the Cudy TR3000. Wireguard is generally not as RAM intensive and so you should get equal performance at half the cost. I have 3 of these running in access point mo

AIO: Suggested to my daughter to always use VPN in her uni flat

if this is something you are really concerned about, you can pick up some super cheap travel routers and do all the vpn stuff there. the bonus being that it ends up being completely transparent then to all the other devices, they just connect normally. the GL-MT3000 Beryl AX is the super easy one to

Please suggest a decent upgrade from a wrt54g

Today, you really want a router that at least has 5ghz support. If you're in a high-density space, I'd suggest 6ghz as well. I'd argue the minimum wifi standard today is the 2013 era 802.11ac, which can, practically handle ~800mbps peaks. The newer technologies are WiFi 6 and 7. Personally, I tend t

New addition to my EDC

Beryl 7 for equivalent, but slightly cheaper (same manufacturer). Beryl AX (same manufacturer, slightly older) or Cudy TR3000 (near identical to Beryl AX but about 50% the price). There seems to be a new TR3600 which may be identical to the Beryl 7

What is a modern device that supports current OpenWRT and is under $200

Good to know. I really want to like Cudy, because they have good and cheap routers that support OpenWRT. However, the lack of USB ports on most routers is mind boggling. I do have a Cudy TR3000, which is basically a cheap GL.iNet GL-MT3000 clone - with less internal storage - that I like very much.

New to openwrt, any recommendations for a cheap used router?

Amazon is selling the Flint 2 / GL-MT6000 for $113. Cudy is running a BoGo sale on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/promotion/psp/A1IR3QNJMAB4JJ (only the model ??3000 devices are interesting). Since the sale's been running for a while, people are selling the free item on eBay - new Cudy TR3000's, fo

Hardware question: USB-C powered router?

I think there's only 4 decent options (in that order): GL.iNET MT-3000 Cudy TR3000 CF-WR632AX (taken from fr0llic) OpenWrt One (not exactly portable though) The first two do not come with mainline OpenWrt but both Cudy and GL.iNET make installing OpenWrt very easy. 12V has been deprecated in USB-PD
