One of the cheapest routers right now is the EDUP RT2980 AX3000 which has a slightly newer revision of the same CPU with half the ram of the Cudy TR3000. Wireguard is generally not as RAM intensive and so you should get equal performance at half the cost. I have 3 of these running in access point mo

Ditch the AX3200. The Cudy TR3000 is a dedicated networking powerhouse disguised as a travel router. For a VPN setup, the Filogic 820 CPU + 512MB RAM combo destroys the older MediaTek chip in the Xiaomi. ⚠️ Critical Warning: The "New Batch" Issue Since you are interested in OpenWrt/ImmortalWrt (impli

Cudy TR1200 oder TR3000 für ~20€/60€ sind auch ok. OS basiert wie bei GLinet auf Openwrt, man kann aber auch plain Openwrt mit z.B. Travelmate flashen. Habe den 1200er im Einsatz. Keine Rakete, aber macht was es soll.

That's basically a GL-MT3000 with 128 MB instead of 256 MB. I've one GL-MT3000 and two Cudy TR3000 and use them as repeaters (Flint 2 is the main router), great units. You can install vanilla OpenWRT on both. Yes, USB tethering is possible with stock firmware.

https://www.cudy.com/de-de/products/tr3000-1-0 This router, supports wifi6 3000mbs, 2.5g lan, and is portable with type c, you can install openwrt on it to later install passwall, clash or any other. If you're in China and want to buy a pre-installed unit, just hit me up with a private message.

Most cheap mini PC only using WiFi card that can't run in AP mode, for long term you can get something like GL-INET MT3000 or Cudy TR3000 and flash OpenWrt as your main AP there, the USB port on router can connect Android phones and/or some USB 4G modem to connect internet

GL-INET MT3000 (Beryl AX) is better since it's fully open source supported (I run official OpenWrt rather than GL's one) Cudy TR3000 also has OpenWrt supported recently so it's also a great travel router

Today, you really want a router that at least has 5ghz support. If you're in a high-density space, I'd suggest 6ghz as well. I'd argue the minimum wifi standard today is the 2013 era 802.11ac, which can, practically handle ~800mbps peaks. The newer technologies are WiFi 6 and 7. Personally, I tend t

I do have a TR3000, it's alright though I use it with OpenWRT so my opinion of it would be different than if you use the stock firmware. Amazon listing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cudy-Pocket-Sized-Ethernet-Extender-TR3000/dp/B0BXNCRVRC

Good to know. I really want to like Cudy, because they have good and cheap routers that support OpenWRT. However, the lack of USB ports on most routers is mind boggling. I do have a Cudy TR3000, which is basically a cheap GL.iNet GL-MT3000 clone - with less internal storage - that I like very much.
