Lash Blast Cleantopia

I have the same issue and have been loving the Cover Girl Cleantopia waterproof mascara - keeps my lashes curled (I do have to use a curler first) and there's no flaking. Edited to add that I have no idea if it's similar to your Maybelline mascara, but I love it.
