CLIO Kill Lash mascara. Korean brand, easily available in the UK. Costs about £6, lasts ages and does what a bunch of £30+ mascaras could never do - stay put, extend and hold my lashes long term.

Rant about tubing mascara
Try KISSME Speedy Mascara Remover. You apply it like mascara, it melts mascara almost instantly, then you wipe it off. So while it's not totally friction-less, it's way less mechanical friction than traditional removal or breaking the seal on the tubes. I got it after getting Clio Kill Lash mascara

What categories are different make up brands the best in? For example, Mac makes the best blush (in my opinion). What categories do other brands rule?

Clio Kill Lash Superproof Mascara in 002 Volume Curling! And I use 010 Sharp Curl on the lower lashes, but it works great for top aswell--just not as black. I also swear by Kiss Me Heroine Make Volume Up Mascara!
