Not sure if you have ever heard this piece of advice, but know that it is the only piece of advice you ever really need when considering new gear: buy the tools you need right now. So, write down a list of things you need currently out of a camera. Try not to be swayed by specs that you know may exi

Yes, this is exactly the reason. Unfortunately this isn’t unique to the R6V, and goes all the way back to the original R5. On Canon’s cinema OS, you can switch between Full Frame and Super 35 modes on the fly, so you would be able to get around this. So a camera like the C50 (which has the exact sam

As I’m sure you’re well aware from your own research, there is no wrong choice here. I know that doesn’t exactly help your analysis paralysis, but in regard to solo filmmaking both the R6V and the ZR are fantastic - there is no “better tool” between the two. If you’re asking me, the value propositio

IMO the Canon R6V is the discount king at the moment. Extremely good performance all around with the main issue being that its IBIS is pretty bad with lots of edge distortion. Also, Canon has a limited lens choice and I personally don't like the feel of much of their RF glass. One other consideratio

FX9, FS7, A7s2 owner for years - my Canon R6V has better color science and double the resolution at half the price. I also own a C50 - $2k (I need a camera without IBIS for plate capture & guassian splat work)

I’m just a bit worried at this point; this camera would have to come out sub-2000$ for it to make sense in this market. I was really excited about this a couple of years ago but since then so many great options have come out ( Canon R6V , Nikon ZR , Kinfinity, Komodo, Pyxis, etc) and from what it so

Well no, I do not care about autofocus in the slightest when filming. I switched to canon because I wanted a c70 which would mean investment in a new lens ecosystem. If Panasonic had a pro video body with internal ND’s in L-mount I would’ve stayed but they didn’t have that, Canon did. Plus, the c70

I wish I wasn’t already so invested in Sony, because Canon I feel has objectively better skin tones and cameras like the R6V offer comparable features at half the price. Competition is good.

Funny enough, I pre-ordered it (using a c80/s1ii as my A cam at events depending on the venue/team size,) because of the insanely low data rates and impressive compression ratio on their internal raw. I’m psyched to use X-OCN C2. It IS bigger than my current files in open gate (which I’m trying to f

ZR is a trap, the only mode you'll get good image quality is RAW, and it's so heavy you'll spend more on media than you did on the camera. Raw is a nice to have, but you need something with a robust 10 bit 422 codec with manageable sizes. The a6700 is absolutely fine, and I don't think full frame is
