Considering a Pentax but.....
I think you're asking the wrong question. Is Pentax autofocus bad? No, for the optical viewfinder DSLR, it's great. Pentax live view autofocus is... not good. Is this camera (Canon M50) good for beginners at this price point? I've been wanting to get into photography and I have absolutely no prior experience so any advice is really appreciated:)
i'm not sure about your market, maybe prices are very different - but 390 bucks seems like a lot. just today i saw a brand new canon R100 kit offer for 399€.

You can get a Canon R100 bundle from Amazon for $499 with a kit lens with no flip screen, but if you already like Nikon, for another few hundred you can get a Z30 kit which does have a flip screen, or an R5
