hi! I am not sure if your Mom is the type that just wants a cup of brewed coffee, or, likes espresso. I like the option to pull espresso shots and steam milk with the same machine, and make lattes/cappuccino at home. I waited awhile to get one I thought was perfect - and truly have found my own cup

I have been using a Breville Barista Touch for about a year and a half. I just found a good deal on a used Profitec Go so I decided to upgrade. Night and day difference for me. And folks say the grinder matters most, but I’m still using the built in grinder from the Touch until my new grinder ships

I went down this rabbit trail last month. After browsing this sub, I learned that it’s the grinder, not the espresso machine, that makes good espresso. I got the Breville Bambino Plus (on sale right now for $400) + a Eureka Libra 65 AP ($750). In terms of automatic, it depends how you define that. M

I don't have a great story, but a year and a half ago, my husband bought a Breville Barista Touch Impress espresso machine during Black Friday. I thought it was a waste of $800. Damn if I don't use that thing every single day.

I also have 2 coffees a day. I have a Breville bean to cup machine that I purchased in 2017. I buy a 1 kg bag of beans for $18 (used to be $11 for years) and it lasts me about 2 months. With the Barista touch you aren't sacrificing quality by making it at home. Most of the time my coffees are better

Profitec go and it’s not even close. The profitec go is such a complete single boiler machine. And it’s a machine, not an appliance. Breville barista touch is more of an appliance.

Honestly I’d start start with a Breville barista touch. Not sure what your budget is but mine was under $1500 5-6 years ago and still going strong. You don’t need to worry about a grinder. And it has easy to follow settings. I eventually will upgrade to something fancier but prob not till my Brevill
