Really. I can't hear them over the silence produced by my bose QC ultra earbuds. I do see a lot of people walking round with big headphones on these days.

Looking forward to seeing the rtings data when its available but these guys have tested the APP3 against the latest Bose Ultra gen2 earbuds and found the APP3 slightly more effective:

Consider mid-range Sony. But if you really don't want to hear things, Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2nd Gen is the way to go. They're expensive. The older QC non-ultra are still quite good and noticeably cheaper.

Whistling is my BIGGEST,anger inducing trigger!! There was a whole damn day I had to run errands (groceries,etc.) and there was ALWAYS SOMEONE WHISTLING!!! Get some Bose QC ultra earbuds and thank me later.

I own B&W Px7 S3 and I am really happy so far. But if ANC is really important for you then maybe you can consider Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2nd Gen.

I upgraded to Bose QC Ultra Earbuds 2nd Gen for Apple Airpods. They work well, and I hope to add a Bluetooth transmitter with a 3.5mm audio jack so I can use them with airplane entertainment systems.
