WARNING: Do NOT Buy Onyx BOOX. $500 Note Air5 C turned into a DEAD BRICK in less than a month, and support has completely GHOSTED me.

Over the years, I have owned and used: Note 5 Note Air 3C Tab X Go 10.3 Note Max Note Air 5C Go 7 Palma Pro 2 Go 10.3 II Lumi All worked flawlessly with zero issues. That being said, I buy them on Amazon, not from Boox directly, so I can easily return them if I need to.

Best e-ink tablet for heavy book PDF reading in a PhD?

  1. PDF handling — clean rendering, easy navigation, no fighting the device Boox and NeoReader is going to be best at this, e.g. it's very good at reflowing PDFs. 3. Annotation and highlighting — needs to work smoothly, and I would like to get highlights/notes out in a usable format. same for this. 4. Z

I want an ereader with alarge screen. Any suggestions on brand and model?

BOOX note max has a large clear screen and their Neoreadwr is awesome. Not sure about the dictionaries but they run on android.

Cons or downsides to owning Boox

I'd say it depends entirely on your use cases and the models you are looking at. There are 12 current models of BOOX devices, which vary greatly in screen tech, size, stylus capabilities (capactive vs EMR vs USI), screen coatings, storage, and power. Trying to paint that variety with a single brush

From reading the posts here it seems that the Remarkable is not what I should be purchasing...

I'm an academic. Get something that's large enough to display full page PDFs at a comfortable size. You don't really want to be messing around panning and zooming on eink, given refresh rates. That means one of Boox Note Max (13 inch), Boox Tab XC (13"), or Remarkable Paper Pro (11.8"). Boox devices

Are e-ink note-taking devices like reMarkable worth it for software engineers?

The only one that work with a subscription (and it’s not an obligation to subscribe though) is the remarkable with connect. There is no hidden fees. I’m not a software engineer but considering your use of obsidian you might like the onyx Boox devices since it is an android google play enabled device

boox tablets for essay writing

I do that in a Boox Go 10.3 and a Boox Note Max. It works well. You notice a bit of lag, but it is not frustrating. And it is much easier on the eyes. I use mostly Google Docs and Simplenote to insure a good sync. You can also type on the native note-taking app and supposedly it flows better.

I own an Ipad but it's too smooth - What do you recommend that is closest to paper and pen?

I tried Supernote, Remarkable, Viwoods, Boox, and the Kindle Scribe. All of them have good handwriting feel. I liked the Remarkable Paper Pro the least because the pen makes a tapping noise with every contact. The other devices are alike enough that I don’t see any advantage to one over the other. T

Best e ink tablet for PhD?

a lot of your decision comes down to whether you need a screen light built in to read by. if not I tend to recommend the Supernote Manta or Boox Note Max. both are excellent for pulling together content on a big, easy to read screen. the former is better with respect to organization and building a p

Looking for recommendations for a lawyer

Boox Note Max 13.3 has good writing "feel" and a large screen -- you can read letter sized PDF documents without zooming in. (Device size: ~11.3 x 9.6 x 0.18 inches). If you don't mind a smaller (but also less unwieldy) device -- also with a good writing "feel" -- Supernote A5X2. (Device size: ~9.9
