Anyone has a non-Kindle e-reader? Which one do you recommend?
The 2 big non-Kindle brands are Kobo and Onyx Boox. the difference being that Boox is Android-based so you can download different apps while Kobo is a closed system like Kindle. It depends on what you want out of your e-reader. I personally have a Boox Go 7" (in black/white) and I'm a big fan of it

Any tips for Textbooks and Scientific Papers?
Honestly, this is probably not the device for image-heavy PDF files, in my opinion. You may be better served with a larger e-ink device. I have used some of the larger color e-ink devices from Onyx Boox for this purpose. They are not cheap, but provide a much nicer experience.

Is the Viwoods AIPaper a good fit for me?
I presently own a reMarkable 2, Boox Note2, & an AiPaper. The reMarkable 2 has long been a staple in the E-Ink market, but it is currently hampered by aging hardware and a restrictive subscription model that gates basic cloud syncing features. With only 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, it str

I need help deciding between some ereaders for reading and manga
Boox note air absolutely. It runs android, you can install Minho or any other app you want. I have the boox note air2 and I started reading my first manga a few days ago. It's perfect.

What annoys you the most when reading on the web?
On my MacBook using Safari, nothing really bothers me as I have an ad blocker which removes most of the nuisances for me. On my Onyx BOOX color tablets everything that moves for no good reason is the biggest annoyance IMO. I like to use EInk Mode not only for its better paginated presentation, but a

I treat my boox poorly and it works. For many years.
My cat bit mine, the screen cracked, and I still use it every day. https://www.reddit.com/r/Onyx_Boox/comments/1kzjjul/my_cat_took_a_bite_out_of_my_boox/

How to download from play store?
No problem! I had to do it a couple of times because I still got the "not certified" error after doing it once. Just make sure you go through the restarts after setup and force close the Play Store app when needed. It's a really good screen. I picked up the aipaper mini last week. Coming from my Boo

Thinking about getting the Manta A5 X2 — would love some honest feedback!
I have Manta and Note Air2+ and I am incidentally an academic in economics/finance so I may offer some perspective. Writing feels much better in Manta, thanks to the pen and screen with no backlight. If you take a lot of notes and care about the feel, Manta is definitely better. On the other hand, r

E-lukijat

Getting tired of reaching + tapping on the screen after every character for years (while writing), using a controller for input made things much more ergonomic.
I use an onyx boox note air 2 plus, bought it september 2023, bit before the note 3c came out. I'd say it feels nice, my eyes are a bit weak to LED screens. I mostly do anki at my desk, using a tablet stand in front of my monitor.
