BOOX support has been dragging my case for almost a month instead of giving a real solution
Dead zones on eink devices are not unusual. If Boox don't know what the problem is, then that says a lot about the company. It's a bad look. I won't be buying one now. I was looking at the note air 5c. It's expensive. Not going to risk my money

Why hasn’t anyone launched a Kickstarter for an 8-inch e-ink device that’s actually open source, with generous storage and no ecosystem lock-in? Feels like there’s a real gap here. If someone executed it well, it could seriously shake up the whole Kindle/Kobo duopoly.
This. I've tried a Onyx / Boox which is similar in the sense that it's not subsidised by taking a big cut of book sales. It was expensive, clunky, and had crap build quality in comparison to my Kindles. Not fun to use, even though I liked the form factor and features.

If I buy Boox Air 5c will last me 5 years?
I have a first generation Note Air from October 2020. I still use it daily. I'm not super careful with it either, stuff it in my backpack every day, have it dropped a bunch over the years. The blue paint completely wore off at the corners. Heck, I even take the thing on multi-day tent-trekkings in t

[April 2026 Megathread] UX Feedback & Feature Improvements
Please for the love of all things holy. Make a dark mode for system theme for note air 5c. Also the whole reason I bought a boox tablet was to read books and Manga from my OPDS server. I discovered a bug in neoreader where you can only download and open 1 book for any feed on the opds. This is extre

Returning Boox note air 5c
If you're just reading books, I would get a Kobo. You'll get the actual month long battery life that you expect from eink (I get a solid week of battery on my Go 7 B/W, definitely feel I got more on my Note Air 3 B/W which could almost do 2 weeks but I do tend to charge when I'm down to like 30% bat

convince me to buy kobo clara colour instead of kindle coloursoft (or vice versa)
on the boox no app for me works as good as Moonreader (basic reading app on boox devices). i think the biggest issue for me is poor battery life on my go 6 (i recharge it every 4-6 days. i read with wifi off and brightness at minimum). i’d like to try a colour e-reader with better battery life (i do

Created a ticket and currently they looping me through scripted answers. My note air 5c is currently stuck on boox logo. I haven't updated (or used) my Ultra Tab C in over 18 months. What have I missed? What can I expect?
