Recommendations for first ereader?
It sounds like you have 2 options: Option 1: You can get a Kobo, which supports OverDrive natively, one card at a time. You'll have to sideload (this just means manually using a computer to put books on it) the CloudLibrary books. This means no Hoopla for you. No Kindle books of course. Option 2: Yo

Ereader recommendations needed
Unfortunately with those parameters, what you are looking for does not exist, unless I am mistakenly thinking you want a stylus type of note taking ability. The closest you will get is something like the Bigme B6, which is a small 6” size, color, affordable for color, but you will have to peck at th

Any color e-readers with micro SD support?
Bigme B6 Color is one of them, and that's a lot cheaper plus running Android 14 (if you prefer Android at least)

Failed Boox Palma 2 Screen
Unfortunately Boox has really crappy customer service and they refuse to honor their warranty. They'll always blame the customer even when it's not their fault. I've read that their screens on the Palma are so tightly screwed in that they're constantly under pressure and will eventually break becaus

Nobody is talking about Musnap Neo (Black and White strictly)
Bargain. The Bigme carta1300 B6 costs another 50% more. *edit: mind you... for an extra USD5x you also get Android 14, a bump upto 4G RAM and SD card expansion and for me, serviceable onboard speaker too. I'm tempted by the Neo's sunken screen though... How much does it weigh?

Help me avoid buyers remorse, please!
Living out side of the us, a Kindle is not recommend if you want to use your local library it will not work. Kindle and kobo are about the same, they limit you to only one book store. You can side load books on both devices, but it requires a seperate computer and a little knowledge. A android eread

Boox Go 6 Review in 2026
If it was faster it would be great. But as it is the bigme b6 is a much better device. The only thing that the boox is better at is pdf file reflow. If I had a lot of pdf then the boox would be my choice. If you are just reading epubs the boox is a waste of money. If they do come out with a new boox

The Kobo Libra Color was SO close to being the perfect device for me, except for the fact that it only has 32GB of non expandable storage. Any alternatives?
Bigme 7'' B751C It's a little more expensive, a little bigger but close. The extra money gets you a stylus. KLC is hard to beat. Their b6 has a microsd but doesnt have buttons. Otherwise it's the next closest match and cheaper.
