This is how OPEN Beyerdynamic headphones are
Not exactly, but close. DT990 are more open than that. Instead of the plastic back, they have slightly thicker felt there, making them one of the more open ones, and people can hear it, often crowning them the most open sounding Beyerdynmic even though they have about as much highs as the 1990, so t

Tracks feel quieter after normalization
Trust me, they are small. That's why there's also a HS5, HS7 and HS8. In fact for the genre you are producing you kind of need to feel the bass. Make those 808s hit. Maybe consider adding a sub or getting larger woofer size monitors for that? Or, alternatively, planar magnetic headphones. I've got h

I built a little browser tool to blind-test FLAC vs MP3 on your own music, and found out I'm basically deaf and wasting HDD space
Very nice tool. I'm happy rather happy to get each time a 3/5 with having FLAC, 64k and 16k correct. It is way better to test on music/song we know but it also shows something very important. The container is kinda important, but the first most important thing is the mixing done when recording the s

Are the 900 pro x a good choice?
This ain't neutral: https://squig.link/headphones/?share=KEMAR_DF_(KB006x)_10dB_Tilt_Target,Beyerdynamic_DT_900_Pro_X They're less bright than the other open back Beyers, but they're still VERY bright.

DT 770 Pro X or DT 700 Pro X
The headband thing on the 700 was a design defect that Beyerdynamic found and fixed after about a year of selling the headphones. They haven't fixed anything. Even the new version doesn't last much longer. I'm already on my third replacement headband for my three year old DT900 Pro X.

Bayerdynamic Dt 900 Pro X w grach

Hifiman he1000 stealth worth it?
The Sundara aren't superior at all. Both the He1000, or basically any headphone in the Arya line, are much better. Of course they are also more expensive, but they are in fact better, and also much better than the Dt900 Pro X.

First time using open back headphone
The DT900 Pro X and DT700 Pro X do sound a bit dull/blunted because they both use a thick felt/fabric disk in front of the driver.

Same brand of headphones for open and closed backs?
Same. I have a pair of DT900 Pro X as well but I prefer the 700.

NDH 30 or DT 1990 Pro MKII
Not sure about the DT1990s. I’ve used the DT 700 pro x and the dt900 pro x with sonar works and neither were very good. I have sennheiser had 650s that I use with sonar works and they are way better.. that’s the headphone sonar works themselves recommend.
