Thanks for the comparison. That's one of the first things I noticed on my BenQ RD280UG, the matte coating does an excellent job balancing clarity and reflection dampening. I think it's very close to Apple's nano texture. Also love the BenQ 3:2 ratio - way more useful than 16:9.

Somehow nobody has mentioned the BenQ RD280UG Programming Monitor yet? It's brand new, and is specifically a 4:3 monitor with modern technology and features. Pretty much exactly what you're looking for.

After like 8 years of waiting for the perfect 3:2 monitor I settled for a Benq RD280U 4K+ 3:2 IPS 60hz. after having it for a couple of months I plan to get a second one. Ever since Microsoft launched the Surface Studio, I've wanted a 28" 3:2 monitor, I've been using a 3:2 laptop since the release o

Why do I write this at all? Unlike other major companies that ignore customer feedback and stick rigidly to a 16:9 ratio, BenQ actually listened. What do you use it for? I use the monitors for a solid mix of creative work and downtime. On the productive side, my main uses are 3D modeling, programmin

Colors are OK, but gray tones suffer the most. With the colors dialed in the brightness is much below my BenQ. The matte coating i

Hey, thxs benq for the compliment :). These are the first benq products I have acquired and the quality is very impressive. This new RD280UG monitor is fantastic, as is the halo 2 bar light. Keep up the good work!

See if you can pick up a HUAWEI MateView second hand. The BenQ RD280U but over your budget. However the MateView is the same aspect ratio and that extra vertical space is great for programming. I've owned both previously.

I equipped the trading room users with BenQ RD280UG 3:2 aspect ratio monitors marketed to programmers. Two of those fit nicely on a standard desk, lots of vertical screen space. Perfect for Bloomberg Terminal (lots of small white fonts on black) . People stare at that for ten hours day and more, so

I really like my BenQ RD280U (use two of them side-by-side). They are a bit taller, which is great for Xcode.
