Anyone Using Auratones for Mixing?

Oh you're lucky. I have Avantone Mixcubes and I adore them. People say the Auratones are even better. Working on Avantones is similar to the "mono trick." (In fact, you can combine the two and work on a single mono Auratone.) The limited frequency range puts your focus on the most musical and critic

Narrower > Wide Mixes

Good question. I own a pair of Avantone Mixcubes and I've used them stereo, dual-mono, and also single-mono. My favorite way to use a speaker like that is definitely single-mono, and I even got a stereo-to-mono summing box so I have instant mono without having to click "mono" in the DAW. (Well spent

Help choosing speakers

Right now I'm just using my single Avantone mixcube + HD650s (with Sonarworks correction) and they get me about 95% of the way there with all my mixes. Untreated room and sort of temporary living situation so I won't be changing that. My midrange feels great on just these two. I occasionally test in

Would smaller monitors cause less fatigue in a small room?

Hmm... I don't know that loudness by number, but are you just listening too loud? Could it be the wide range of frequencies, from the subs to the top end air frequencies that just overload your brain after a while? If so, I kind of get that... My monitoring situation isn't high end or anything, but

Was gifted a pair of Genelec 1031a’s, where should I place them? In the red square, or swap the JBL 305’s?

i'd go with genelecs horizontal, and straight above them avantone ns10s, but with tweeters inside. they are way too wide now. same distance, because if you put genelecslittle back, the avantones will create an acoustic obstacle for them. better that they are flush with each otherr imo. genelec is no

Kali Audi IN5 or IN8v2 to pair with Yamaha HS7

IN8v2 will have a different sound for ya. Or make the move to CLA-10 actives and a pair of Auratone cubes, if you want to get a hold of your mids and small format. The Avantone cubes don’t sound the same as the Auratones. There CLA-10s sound almost identical to the actual Yamaha ns-10s. The HS serie

Are the KRK Classic 5" monitors any good?

You'd be better off spending some extra coin on the Gen 4 or 5 series or getting an Avantone mixcube. The Classics were amazing besides a weird muddy resonance in their low mids, the G4 and up addresses that and have a pretty flat response. Anything in the sub $400 budget range (Yamaha hs, JBL lsr,

Upgrading monitors - the sea never parted for me. Did they part for you?

I might have a very helpful perspective for you because I upgraded from Yamaha HS8s to the exact setup you are eyeing - KH80s plus the KH750 sub. My room is also semi treated. It was night and day difference. The inbuilt Neumann room correction makes all the difference. What's funny is that my HS8s
