I’ve mixed one of my tracks from my ep in mono then switched over to stereo and wow!
You're not wrong, although people who use the mono trick with a single Auratone or Avantone are well aware of this and they compensate for it. But it's kind of the opposite of your point. Someone who uses a frequency limited speaker like this is doing it precisely so they don't overly rely on sounds

Anyone Using Auratones?
Those are better than Avantones and possibly better than the Auratone reissues I have. I've had Avantones and they were bad except for PA purposes, and have Auratone reissues which work better mix-wise. Those will reveal the sound of your amp because there's so little to them. Single-driver speakers

Could I have a little feedback on a couple of my demos please?
Nice performance - good diction, clear pronunciation, and engaging delivery. Well done. The mixes are letting it down - I'm listening on my phone speaker, as potential clients might, and your voice is being drowned out by the music in most of the corporate demos. The e-learning ones are better (part

mixing through a mono mixcube -- game changer
see I thought this but I don't believe it anymore. The frequency response plots (ironic to even consider the mixcube worthy of such analysis) are terrible. And it's a grotbox I get it, but there are huge resonances from 5Khz and up. The plot I saw (I'll link it) has about a 13db difference from 4 to

Anyone Using Auratones for Mixing?
Oh you're lucky. I have Avantone Mixcubes and I adore them. People say the Auratones are even better. Working on Avantones is similar to the "mono trick." (In fact, you can combine the two and work on a single mono Auratone.) The limited frequency range puts your focus on the most musical and critic

Narrower > Wide Mixes
Good question. I own a pair of Avantone Mixcubes and I've used them stereo, dual-mono, and also single-mono. My favorite way to use a speaker like that is definitely single-mono, and I even got a stereo-to-mono summing box so I have instant mono without having to click "mono" in the DAW. (Well spent

Drum levels vs everything else is tripping me up
Try switching to mono to check levels. On speakers/monitors. Or, get an Avantone mixcube. This never lets me down when getting levels right. It may take some time to get used to (it's strong in mid frequencies) it but, it's very good for levels especially when posting audio to social media (mono/wea

Best setup for what I currently have
Are you talking about Klipsch RP-402S surround speakers? Those are not intended for stereo listening. (And those types of speakers aren’t good even as surround sound speakers with the way multichannel codecs are designed these days. They should be regular direct firing (i.e. monopole) speakers.) Als

Would smaller monitors cause less fatigue in a small room?
Hmm... I don't know that loudness by number, but are you just listening too loud? Could it be the wide range of frequencies, from the subs to the top end air frequencies that just overload your brain after a while? If so, I kind of get that... My monitoring situation isn't high end or anything, but

Give up on trying to make mix sound good on phone speaker?
Question for you - how do you "soften/smear" high frequencies? I believe I understand the sound you describeexactly but I'm not sure how to attain that sound in the highs. The Avantone Mixcube is great advice for OP. I came here to say the same. Of he gets his mix sounding good on the 'cube, it will
