HD6

I have a pair of roughly 9 year old AudioEngine HD6 powered speakers that all of a sudden have started making this horrible buzzing sound at 96 dB any time they are turned on (even with no inputs plugged in). Any idea what's wrong with them? Is this something that can be repaired or am I in the mark

I have a pair of HD6 speakers from Audioengine with an S8 and I have 3 pairs of A5+’s, each with an S8. I have always preferred the sound of my A5+’s to the HD6. I know Audioengine touts the superiority of the HD6 but I can’t hear it. They aren’t bad to my ears but they def aren’t as good.
