Which router are you choosing if you want a standalone reliable, good range, fast, non chinese set it and forget it machine?
I would stick with Asus. I went from (2) rtac86u routers to (2) ZenWifi BT6 (Wifi7) routers. I've had them for about 3-Months now with zero issues. Of course going from Wifi5 to Wifi7 has improved performance pretty substantially. Last time I checked, Asus was Taiwanese owned.

I need help on a mesh router
I’ve used a number of asus routers in wireless and wired back haul modes over the years and they’ve been quite good. Currently using 2 bt6 in wired back haul to provide coverage to a 3500 sq ft house over 3 levels. Cheers
