RT-AX86U

I'm loving my Wifi6 Asus RT-AX86U. The signal is strong across the entire house (where I used to need multiple access points) and I can use all the bandwidth of my new 500/50 plan almost everywhere.

WiFi 6 is still the best value right now. Its fast, stable, and handles lots of devices well. WiFi 7 is good but kinda overkill unless you’ve got top-tier internet. I will add this for context. I have an RT-AX86u pro router. I also set the 2.4 ghz bandwidth to 20. This is my setup. It is slightly different than the OP’s. I have an Asus AX86U. Its a beast. It handles everything seamlessly. No issues ever. And it should be cheap now.

I would agree with others that building your own may be the only way to truly give you everything you want. As a suggestion though, for a pretty complete package and basically all of what you’re asking for, I’d look into the “Merlin” ASUS router firmware. It’s a fork of the official AsusWRT firmware

Hey Joe exactly where I bought my AX86U and later put it on node to another Asus router also on sale at Cosco. At opposite ends of house on different levels. Wireless backhaul. Extended wifi to detached garage. Working just fine.

I have an Asus RT AX86U Pro that works great as well. I have a two story 4 bedroom house with a basement. The router is in the basement. I get coverage everywhere. Upstairs in the main bedroom I get 495Mb on my iPad. I have 500Mb service.

You know… this sounds familiar. I had the same router for around 5yrs I think, and I’d have random devices go offline periodically. Usually just an IoT device and I’d just unplug it and plug it back in. Nothing like what you’re experiencing though. I remember rebooting it on occasion for some reason
