Fixed Tapo camera network issues with Asus router (Asus RT-AX86S + Tapo C101)

I will add this for context. I have an RT-AX86u pro router. I also set the 2.4 ghz bandwidth to 20. This is my setup. It is slightly different than the OP’s. I have 5 cameras and have never had drop out problems. I usually have 70+ devices connected at any given time. I think disabling roaming assis

Please suggest a decent upgrade from a wrt54g

I still have this in my 'box o tech' in the attic that I haven't tossed yet. It was a good one. The Asus RT-AX86U Pro is a wifi 6e router with mesh capability that I can personally recommend.

Zoom lag on AT&T Fiber BGW320 despite great speeds – could this be bufferbloat / gateway issue?

I only had my BGW320 as factory default for a couple of days. I did notice some glitches and hangs while doing facetime calls. I switched my setup to passthrough with my old Asus AX86U router. Set my DNS to cloudflare in the router. All seems very happy and stable now. My experience is limited to ju

Cat6/ethernet in New Build?

Apart from ethernet cables, it is also important to use a proper router, such as Asus RT-AX86U (wifi-6) or Asus RT-BE86U (wifi-7).Not the cheap crap like the Vodafone Gigabollox, that can only do 5GHz.Or the out-dated Fritz!Box stuff from the likes of Digiweb and PureTelecom.

Time for new router

If you want to stay with ASUS, some good upgrade options to WiFi 6 include ASUS RT-AX86U Pro (if available in your region, otherwise just AX86U), or ASUS RT-AX58U (RT-AX3000) for a lower cost option. For WiFi 7: If you don't need the 6ghz band of WiFi 7 then ASUS RT-BE58U is a good entry level route

Asus mesh two BE92U or one BE92Uwith a TUF BE9400 as node?

Why not start with the AX86U along with whatever ASUS you buy next? Ai MESH will still work. Additionally 86U and 92U are Merlin compatible. I wouldn't worry about one being WiFi 6 and other WiFi 7. The bandwidth advantage of 7 doesn't last very long or work too reliably. And if it did you are often

Which Asus to buy

I'm happy wih the RT-AX86U Pro. It's the only wi-fi router in my house. I bought it in case I ever need more coverage since it's part of Asus' AiMesh Extendable Router platform. It supports up to wi-fi 6 which is fine with me. If I ever need to extend my network to the backyard or garage, I'd get th

No more Airport Time Capsules..

You may want to check out Asus. But most routers use a web interface. There are Asus apps (Mac, iPhone, Windows, etc) that can interface with router. Mine is an RT-AX86U, but I bought it 3 or 4 years ago. So there is probably a newer version. I wanted a dual band router.

Not satisfied with the range of new EAP610 v3 - What to do?

I had an Asus GT-AX11000 that had great range. After a lightning strike killed it, I got the Asus RT-AX86U which also did well with wifi, but not as well as the GT-AX11000, so I added an EAP610 over PoE to improve signal throughout the house. Ultimately, I found that I needed 3 staggered APs to get

No more Airport Time Capsules..

I’ve had several iterations of the AirPort Express. They were fantastic wireless routers. We have a wireless home security system and a bunch of other smart home devices. I had to switch to an Asus router (RT-AX86U) to get good enough coverage for all of them. It was sad to move on, but there weren’
