I'm hacking the Apple Time Capsule so that it will work even after Apple removes support for it from MacOS. I'm 95% done, but need some volunteers to help
There are already other consumer routers that already implement the TimeCapsule protocol and are able to achieve the same over the air backup capability by dumping the data into an external drive. For example Asus RT-AX58U. I am not personally using it anymore but I used a router like that for years

This is what’s happening in the UK after they implanted the age ban for social media
I use Expressvpn and an Australian based server. The speed is fairly decent with around 66mbps throughput. It won't fully get around the stupid data retention but it will obfuscate the data in amongst everything else. I also use an Asus RT-AX58U router which allows you to load up the vpn directly in

XB10 modem / RT-AX86U Pro?
I've got the RT-AX58U, great fucking routers man but the XB10 is much more powerful. instead of bridging the connection to my old router I now just run it in AP mode hard wired to the xb10 extending my wifi. it works great, allow the xb10 to be the dhcp server with the asus router as a client broadc

Router recommendations for Sky fibre
Be wary of people saying "any router will do", you can't just use any old modem router with Sky FTTP. It needs DHCP Option 61 unless you're bridging your Sky router as the modem and just using a third party router for the WiFi.. After doing some research I settled on an ASUS RT-AX58U. Great interfac

Netgear sucks, both their routers and their business mode as a whole. Save yourself the headache and don't bother buying one...
I solve the problem with Netgear (the new routers). When I bought that new one, like I said, it was insane that they now want accounts and personal info. OH HELL NO!!!! I solved it by returning that trash and buying an Asus RT-AX58U.It has the interface that techs need. It's robust and totally config

Please see my reply to your other comment. I mention gong with Asus RT-AX58U routers. Asus doesn't disappoint. The interface is how it should be. No internet account needed. I forget if it tries, but I have it working with my a system username/password for logging in. No issues. Please do read my ot

Looking for an ASUS RT-AX86U or similar
I got the TP Link deco Mesh for my dad and works brilliantly. I have the RT- AX58U flashed with Merlin Firmware and it is fantastic. Great WiFi too with the 2.4 and 5Ghz channels split with only gaming devices on the 5Ghz network and the rest on the 2.4.

What to get my mom for Christmas?
That’s such a thoughtful idea! For a 60"-65" TV focused on streaming, here are some great options within your $1,000 budget: 1. TV Recommendations: TCL 6-Series Roku TV (65”): Excellent for streaming with built-in Roku and great picture quality. It’s budget-friendly but still premium. Samsung Q60C Q

TP-Link potential U.S. ban discussion
I definitely regret buying the deco x55 even before all this news came out. Hardware itself is "fine" I think, but the management is nearly non-existent locally from a browser, and anything "complicated" (anything past firmware upgrades and reboots) HAS to be done from the mobile app. I recently bou

ISP says “it's illegal to open ports and admin the router” - not giving router admin panel login details
I'm on FiOS too. Bought an ASUS RT-AX58U as that was recommended on r/fios, then sent back my Verizon router. You don't even need to call them, just unplug one and plug in the other. It'll get an IP and you're running.
