Looking for a new router supporting DD-WRT.
I decided to go with ASUS RT-AX1800S instead. Turns out this router is rock solid with stock firmware and provides all the features I need. It has up to 3 separate guest networks, one of which I set up as IOT. It also allows me to use a custon DNS server (I use Pihole for DNS) and it is super good a

Which router should I pick? Light gaming/remote work/4 people
I own the ASUS RT-AX1800 and RT-AX3000. I like them both. I don't use either of them as my gateway anymore though. I upgraded to a sg-1100 pfSense gateway recently and have both the routers running in AP mode now. One for upstairs coverage and one for downstairs coverage. I, as others have said, enc

Do I have the right idea to get an access point?
I’ve done bit of looking and my question is would installing an access point like TP-Link Festa F52-Wall, AC1200 would help? Like plan is to set it up somewhere on the 3rd floor, connect the existing Ethernet cable running from the 1st floor to it, buy a second cable to then run from the AP to my PC

Router decision
I have about the same size house. I had a lapse in coverage downstairs so I put an ASUS RT-AX3000 upstairs which connected to my modem in the office, then I also have an ASUS RT-AX1800 downstairs in mesh mode to provide coverage for devices downstairs. I configured it to assign devices based on whic

Asus AI Mesh help/is this right for me?
You’re on the right path. It doesn’t have to be another RT-AX3000 though. I’d probably just buy a cheaper one like the RT-AX1800S. You may have to experiment with the position. Ideally it should be in a location that gets a strong signal from the main router, but also be able to provide a strong sig

Would the ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro be a good replacement for my ASUS RT-AC66U?
Yes, it's a great upgrade. WiFi 6 instead of WiFi 5. Tri-band (2.4ghz and two 5ghz bands). Much faster ports (2.5GB & 10GB, either can be used for WAN or LAN) and then 4 other gigabit LAN ports. More memory. Faster CPU. Increased security (with addition of WPA3 - clients need to support it to use it

Any actual good wifi routers (please)?
I've had an ASUS XT8 mesh system for approaching 5 years (in June). So technically 4 years and 8 months. Still working well. Seems to me longevity and reliability are most important to you so so I think XT8 is a solid pick. You could buy a single XT8 for $175.58 on Amazon. It's WiFi 6 and has good c
