honestly the CAD question depends on your school but a lot of ME programs throw it at you earlier than you'd expect, especially if you join any clubs or design teams on the MacBook - for general ed fine but SolidWorks through Parallels is not reliable enough to depend on for actual coursework. buyin

Best laptop specs for Microsoft Flight Simulator (QHD, training use)
Either CPU will be fine. I have the Ultra 9 275HX and it runs 2024 great. Don't get one with 8GB of VRAM at this point new if you can help it. The 5070 will be fast enough, but you'll reach the 8GB VRAM limit quickly unless you keep settings around medium, and even then addon airports and airliners

I built a native "MyAsus" app for Linux (KDE, Gnome)
This is great! Works fine on my ROG Strix G16 running CachyOS (even though the G16 can't use some of the features like OLED Care or Automatic Keyboard Backlight). I saw on the r/Fedora post that you plan on implementing changing the color of the keyboard. Looking forward to it!
