I however just picked up a used Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 and it has mesh capabilities and I believe Asus has AP's as well but am not 100% sure. What kind

A good LAN network makes all of the difference. Had my tech buddy set mine up about 2 years ago and it's awesome. Just upgraded it further actually and mesh routed a 2nd gt-ax11000 to the 2nd floor. 🤓🤓🤓

If your FTTP NTD is stuck in the garage, don’t expect one giant router to cover the whole property. Even a high-end unit like the ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro will choke once you add 20+ meters, two walls, a wardrobe, and three doors. Wi-Fi 6 is good, but it can’t bend physics. no regerts. I came from 3 set of Asus MESH. 2 set of ROG Rapture GT6 as remote node and 1x ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 PRO as my main. my remote mesh AP7 in the garage can hit 1000Mbps while Asus only got around 300-400Mbps.

Can't go wrong with any of the modern Asus routers tbh. I have an AX11000 and an Ac68U connected with Ai mesh for coverage all over the house (4 bed semi), the garage and down my garden. Good thing about them is u can connect other Asus' down the line if u wish, with their own Asus AI mesh software

i used gt-ax11000 from asus, can vlan tag and works fine with distributel. you can also do mesh with it to extend your network btw you should return your router if you can

OP I had this exact issue minus having fiber internet (which I’m a bit jealous of you btw). I already owned an ASUS router model RT-AX86S that more than met my needs at a previous address. As another user already pointed out you can use a mesh system which ASUS routers support. I dug deep into this

Wired backhaul is definitely the move, your switch is fine and wont bottleneck the mesh nodes since it is non-blocking. Make sure you set the 5GHz bands to non-DFS channels so you dont get random radar drops while gaming. Since you have the 2Gbps plan, update your GT-AX11000 Pro firmware for better

Depending on the specific system. I had a deco mesh that was amazing for like 12 hours, then it was nothing but drops and disconnects. I returned it in favor of my older AX11000 and Asus mesh.
