I can't speak to your exact questions but prior to ordering my FW16, I considered a MacBook Pro with the M chips. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who's only Apple product ever purchased was their first iPod. I don't really like Apple / Macs. A big factor is what you're going to use it for.
