MacBook Pro 5 vs Studio M1 Max (This was a surprise. )

It is. It uses the same entry level M5 as the $1100 MacBook Air. The thing that makes the cheapest "Pro" Pro is the connectivity, great screen, great speakers. From a performance point of view it's not that hot. If you need more performance, don't get the "M5"; get the "M5 Pro" or "M5 Max". Focus on

Considering switching from Windows to Mac OS, Sell me on it.

It's definitely a better operating system (being based on UNIX). macOS updates are way less painful than on Windows. Also the UI looks more beautiful. You also would get quality hardware. Apple Silicon CPUs have better single thread performance (feels snappier) and memory bandwidth can go way higher

Incoming college student looking for help

For that specific price range. You have a few options. You can go with the 512GB MacBook Neo using the Apple Education Store which will put you at $600 USD plus tax. I'm a huge tech snob, I won't lie. BUT, I've been daily driving it for grad school this past week and it gets the job done and typing

What should I look for when buying a new Mac that’s primarily (and frequently) used for editing photos in LrC (desktop).

You could just get the base model 16" Macbook Pro and you would be happy with it. The 16" screen is invaluable for photo editing, IMO. So don't even think about the 14" one. People will tell you to get masses of RAM. That costs a lot extra. I run an M3 Pro with what was the base of 18GB at the time,

Hard choice with display and dGPU for P14s G6 Intel

I recently received this laptop with the 3K display option and the NVIDIA RTX Pro 500 Blackwell (6GB VRAM), so here’s my experience so far. For context, I’ve been using MacBook Pros for the past 15 years, up to an M3 Pro with 64GB of RAM. I was tired of macOS and wanted a change—ultimately to Linux,

MacBook Pro v.s Air

A new base model Macbook Air or a used Macbook Pro. For the average user upgrading an Air's RAM or storage is rarely worth it and often pushes the price into MacBook Pro territory, which has active cooling, better displays, and more ports. People paradoxically spend more upgrading the ram and storag

Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura Edition (14” Intel)

I know people will have various opinions on this, but take this from someone who has used both Mac and PC in professional graphic design settings. Windows laptops suck. I’ve never used one that hasn’t felt laggy or gave me issues, even with high end specs. It is a known issue that Adobe runs worse i

Laptop Size

See if you can go to an Apple store or something. The Framework 13 is comparable in size to the 14 inch MacBook Pro. Personally I really like the smaller size
