I was told HomePods are "just loud" and "theres a difference between loud and good sound" by my coworker. Is it still worth getting one?

True. I’d describe the HomePod minis as a Siri device first, a speaker second. Full sized HomePods are the opposite. I’d rather spend $300 on a single homepad than $300 on 3 minis.

Stereo HomePods are stupid laggy and slow down my WiFi?!

I learned after my gen 1 HomePods to either live with the countless frustrations or to get rid of them. I chose to get rid of them. I literally threw them in the garbage after they pissed me off one last time. I’ve since gotten two HomePod Mini that work ok, but only because I have very limited expe

Dynamic Island displaying the wrong HomePod device

This has been happening to me for years. I only have HomePod minis, yet the full-sized HomePod glyph constantly appears in the Dynamic Island. Just one of many bugs that Apple will probably never fix.

Honestly, WTH? Who can explain what is going on here?

I get this error when I tell one of my smart plugs to power on or off using a HomePod Mini. My HomePod Mini has trained me to say it exactly as "Hey Siri, living room pet cam power on/off" If I say "Hey Siri, turn off the living room pet cam" or if I swap the order of basically any part of the sente

HomePod mini stuck in loop trying to reset

This is like the dumbest shit I've heard but yeah... It actually worked In the end to get my HomePod Mini working again after a reset ( because it started playing Music for no reason ) I had to: put a damp tissue on top which I had to shift around a bit whenever the red spinning light would come up.

Why every time I call Siri i need to call her twice?!

Do you have multiple devices that respond to “Hey Siri”? I have this issue because I have HomePod Minis, Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Macs. I’ve had to shut off “Hey Siri” on some of them, else nothing happens when I say “Hey Siri”. Siri still occasionally “ignores” me when the HomePod thinks the

Alexa / smart speaker - radio presenters

Apple smart speakers don’t do BBC Sounds - they went back the next day.

The HomePod mini is my worst tech purchase

I have five of them. I bought a bunch with the hope that they would get better with time… which they didn’t. The Minis are THE worst tech purchases I have ever made. It is the only Apple product I’ve seen that consistently gets worse with every software update. The hardware, the looks, the design is

Weekly Advice Thread - April 12, 2026

Hello! I have a MacBook Air M4, a Mac Mini M4 and an Apple TV 4K. When I try to use the TV 4K with a stereo-paired set of HomePod Gen 2s, or a stereo-paired set of HomePod Minis, everything is fine and there are no problems. If I try to use either of the two stereo-paired sets with either the MacBoo

Honestly, if you were building a new smart home system from scratch, would you choose Google, Amazon Alexa, or something else?

I started with Apple HomePod mini and it was terrible. Siri was so unresponsive and locked down. I didn’t like the environment so I left for Alexa. I purchased the Echo11 and the ease of use with Alexa+ for communication has been excellent. All my apps are integrated and calendars. Kids have their o
