The weird thing is I don't think the Kindle is a loss-leader for Amazon anymore. I really wanted a Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, but $700 is a tough pill to swallow when iPad Air costs far less. But I still can't buy into the iPad as a notebook replacement with the current tactile feel and glossy display

I bought a KLC, returned it, and bought KL2 instead. I have an old paperwhite, and i felt the screen was brighter on that compared to KLC, and the KL2 was on sale at the time, and a lot brighter. I prefer Kobo due to the buttons, and I don't like the Amazon ecosystem and DRM, which were the reasons

If the kindle colorsoft bothered your eyes chances are high that the kobo will as well... the displays are all made by the same company.

They’re just going to keep sending you shitty products. Did anyone even see how they handled their Kindle Colorsoft release? The screens had a yellow band across them and they just kept taking old one backs and sending out new broken ones. For a year. You’re dealing with a company who is so big they

I had both, and kept the KLC and returned the Colorsoft Frankly I just like the Kobo OS much more and love that I can mod and customize it freely with no hassles. Also feels good not giving in to Amazon’s monopolistic Kindle ecosystem, but that’s a whole other discussion separate from the quality of

Some will say a 7" reader is good enough, but it seems tiny to me. A tablet is still the best f

I'm curious what you ended up doing for an ereader in the end? I'm the same age as you and I've been using my old Kindle keyboard since 2010! I love the buttons so much I just can't get used to a touchscreen. I've already replaced the battery once and it's draining quickly again so I'm trying to loo

“battery and clarity tradeoffs” when 60% of my review is based on reading experience 😭 It uses completely different display technology, do you think the colours appear magically?? That’s why there are trade offs in the user experience as well as the battery, if they were the same there wouldn’t be t
