Best wearables for the poors?
Garmin Vivosmart 5 is probably the sweet spot —> continuous HR on screen, no subscription for anything (Garmin Connect is fully free unlike Fitbit Premium), and custom HR alerts are great for pacing. Usually around $150 If that's still too much, the Amazfit Band 7 at ~$50 does on-screen HR with no s

Mi band 10 Full specifications
I don't wanna be a hater, but an Amazfit mi band 10 would be epic, with continuous heart rate, heart abnormalities, hrv and all the zepp functions.... Mi fitness is such a turn off for me I miss when the mi bands would work with mi fit and Amazfit apps, before everything went mi fitness I know there

Switch from Apple Watch?
Check into Amazfit.I have the $45 Amazfit Band 7 and it gives text/call notifications... among other things. The battery lasts from 1-3 weeks. You get the three week battery life if you don't turn on continuous heart rate monitoring. By default when you get the Amazfit it's set up for the 3 week bat

My grandma has dementia and forgot to use her panic button twice in the last month
Can you set up cameras in her house ? If she will allow that, it would be great. When my mother was just beginning to fall and be weird... I got her an Amazfit Band 7 watch. It only needs to be charged once a week, and can be worn in the shower. It's also cheap... at $45. I would log in to her accou

Band 7 Firmware Update (1.11.0.1)
I plugged in my Band 7 to charge it after not using it for a couple months, and to my surprise there was a firmware update (1.11.0.1) pending. I did a Google search and there is no mention of this update anywhere online.. The update fixes the calendar bug and "other bugs" according to the changelog.

What apps are you using to keep track of your parents and what do you like about them?
If you can get her to wear a fitness tracker, that's a great way to keep tabs on her. If she has a smartphone. You can log in to her account, see what her heart rate is, see if she's taking steps.. moving around. She may enjoy tracking her steps too. It might even motivate her to exercise more. I se

Losing motivation
The difference-maker for me was GAMIFYING it. Get something that measures your heart rate. I started with the Amazfit Band 7 on Amazon (it was 50 bucks) which works with a free app called Zepp. Measures speed, distance, heart rate, and PAI (my favorite metric for motivation). Mount your phone to you

Bye bye Fitbit (10 years)
Amazfit Band 7 shows steps and has other things besides steps... like sleep, heart rate, and even weather which is pretty cool. The steps are on the home screen by default-- so mom could see steps without scrolling. She could also choose a different watch face. I really like the Amazfit so far. I'm n
